One of the hardest things you will have to do is to grieve the loss of a person who is still alive

Jeannette Walls

I don’t believe the context of this quote centers around Alzheimer’s, but I remember our dad Mike saying this many times as he came away from his visits at the care home where our mom Myrtle was being looked after.

One day we hope that finding out you or a loved one has dementia does not have the same implications as it does today. Scientists are exploring all possibilities, pouring resources into research, and devoting their lives to finding a cure.

Myrtle has been an inspirational figure in our lives and she inspired this website and its purpose.

At The Gift of a Memory our focus is to further awareness of the symptoms, causes, and treatments of dementia and to help in the funding of treatment and prevention of the disease.

We aim to achieve this with your help and our ‘shopping for a cause’ initiative.

Our gifts help you deepen the connections with your friends and family by celebrating life’s major milestones. You will positively shine when you give the perfect gift for the right occasion knowing that a share of your purchase will go directly into research for the prevention of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

We will donate 5% of the purchase price of every item in our store to this cause.

Making memories together and reminiscing as a family are soul nourishing experiences that we all enjoy. Our memories are our essence and make up who we are, so to celebrate life’s milestones through our artwork we hope to keep those memories alive.

So you shop, we give, and together we can make a difference.

Thank You.
